and just like that, vet school is over.

Huh.

Yeah, it still hasn’t sunk in. Soon, though.

The last case I saw was crazy – a neonatal puppy lacking his distal duodenum, jejunum, ileum and proximal colon.

Too much to do to say much more, but it’s all good now.

Was it congenital? Or was it an umbilical herniation and the mother eviscerated him when she ate the placenta and umbilicus? I was so horrified the first time I heard about that!

    Either way, poor puppy. 😦

    Liz,

I have a daughter who has just finished her 2nd year of Vet school and your blog has given me insights in to what she is going through and I want to offer you my sincere appreciation for doing that. You have a real gift for this blogging stuff and i hope you’ll continue to do more in the future.

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation, employment and marriage. I have no doubt you will be wonderful Vet.

    All the best to you

We’re quite sure it was congenital (though the pathologist had never seen anything like it before). There was a small rent in the skin of his abdomen but the linea alba was definitely intact, so we couldn’t blame the litter. It was a strange case!
