I took this picture on the drive over from Boston – I kind of liked it because for going 70mph it was relatively clear, and you can see the little W in the mirror.


And, to give you an idea of farm life, I saw these trucks carrying these enormous tractor/quarrying and strip mining tires in Iowa, an hour or two due east of Des Moines…they’re huge!!!

    I enjoyed your pictures and discriptions. I can’t imagine moving from Boston to Iowa. Those tires were huge! Very Interesting.

    actually they are not tractor tires. they belong on the caterpillar 930 dump truck (or similar) and are used in the midwest for quarrying and strip mining. the trucks are too big to travel across interstates or public roads and are generally moved in pieces by tractor trailer when they are purchased (new) and assembled on site or dis/reassembled when being reprovisioned elsewhere. see site below for additional information.
